A COMPLETE GUIDE TO CANGGU

Canggu is a surftown located on the South West Coast of Bali. With its Bohemian vibe, surf beaches, and café culture, Canggu has become a popular destination for young travelers, yogis, surfers and digital nomads.

Whenever I come to Bali, I always make my way down here because of its amazing atmosphere. I just love this place! It’s usually the first place I come down to to start my holiday, when arriving in Bali after a long flight. Although Canggu is only around 20 km’s from the airport, it might take you a while to get there because of the heavy traffic. It should take you +/- 40 minutes (if you’re lucky) to get there, but be prepared to be in the car for more than an hour.

Why I think you should go to Canggu:

  • There are so many beautiful, healthy and cool places to eat (really endless opportunities!)

  • There is a great party scene but in a very laid back kind of way. Nobody cares if you go out in your bikini and flip flops. It’s just all very easy going.

  • You want to learn how to surf (waves are easier here than for example in Uluwatu)

  • You want to do yoga or become a yoga instructor. You’ll find amazing yoga classes and retreats here.

  • You are a solo traveler: it’s so easy to meet new people in Canggu

  • It has some of the best (and cheap) spa’s and boutiques to score a new outfit

  • You want to relax but also want to get some work done: you’ll find some of the coolest co-working spaces in Canggu
